By Ken Lusk The News A local business celebrated its 15th anniversary in 1987 in October; a month when every- thing seems to happen, Terry Korzinski of Terry's Sight & Sound told the News. Korzinski came to Terrace Bay from Dryden, Ontario, in 1972. He worked as a papermaker in the mill for a start but soon bought the theatre from Nick Lentiwich; a time when kids paid 75 cents and adults paid $2.50 to see a movie, Korzinski said. A big hit at that time was Towering Inferno. Korzinski ran the theatre for nine years. He said he noticed a lack of the availability of such things as cameras and equipment in Terrace Bay. While operating the theatre, Korzinski started his store, which was located between what is now Moore's and the bank and called Terry's Gun and Camera, and sold things like guns and cameras. Terry's then became Terry's Sight & Sound. Korzinski ran both operations for "16 hours a day", he said. He then realized he needed Bank in Schreiber to celebrate 75th Anniversary December 15, 1987 To our friends and Clients: On Monday, January 18, 1988, we will observe our 75th Anniversary of the opening of the Schreiber branch of the Bank of Montreal. Our success, like that of any other business, depends upon the goodwill of our clients and we appreciate your having chosen the Bank of Montreal to meet your needs and provide the opportunity to have grown along with Schreiber. We have tried to service, in a friendly, neighbourly spirit, the personal and business interests of this Ccommunity- to combine the experienced facilities of a nation- wide, 170 year-old institution with understanding and personal service to the individual. We look forward to continuing to work with you, your family, your friends and your business, however and whenever we can be helpful. ; Let us thank-you for your patronage by having you, our clients, put your name on a ballot (please, one per client), and we will have a draw on Monday, January 18, at 3 p.m. for five shares of the Bank of Montreal- the first Canadian Bank, We also invite you to visit the branch on this special day for cof- fee and donuts and to give us the Opportunity to thank you in per- son for your ongoing support. Sincerely, G.A. Drage on behalf of the staff. In Memory of Inez Turenko who passed away on December 20, 1987; she is gone, but not forgotten. Frank & Lillian Sechesky Wen cs eee other things in his store so he attained a Radio Shack franchise; he sold the theatre in 1981, and Terry's Sight & sound became a full time operation along with the , Petal Patch. Korzinski needed more room but at this time the plaza extended only as far as the town office. Soon the bakery went up, then the convenience store and eventu- ally both Terry's and Churchley's went up. The grand opening was in October. Terry's Sight & Sound has Anniversary Sale Page 3, News, Wednesday, January 13, 1988. Terry's Sight & Sound has anniversary been in its present location since 1984. Korzinski told the News his store is doing a different type of selling these days than before the town experienced layoffs from the Kimberly-Clark mill. "Before, the young spent lots, he said. The young aren't spending so much any more so Korzinski finds himself left selling to fami- lies that have very young chil- dren. He sells "different goods" that aren't "so expensive", he said. "When I order (my merchan- dise) I think of the different group I sell to." Korzinski said the future holds "no worry; things are going along nicely." In October Korzinski mentioned that October seems to be the month that things happen for him. He bought the theatre in late September; he moved his store to the bank in October; he moved to his present location in October; the Petal Patch came to be in October; he opened his arcade in late' September and he had his anniversary sale at the end of October.
