Ziegler says there is a definite danger there due to the fact there is only one entrance or exit from the subdivision to the town and vice versa. He is concerned that if there is an emergency or disaster, there would be total kaos with over- crowding. Not only is Ziegler concerned about an emergency, he belicves there is a constant danger there, especially because of the stecp- ness of the grade. He noted that only two cars at one time can sit at the intersec- tion. The third and any remaining cars are on a downward slant which Ziegler believes is a dan- ger. This is especially hazardous in the winter Ziegler told the News. Ziegler continued that the Shell gas station at that intersec- tion has two entrances/exits of its own which only adds to the prob- lem. There is also a crosswalk for school children there he said. The Terrace Bay councillor wants to have the Ridgewood Jim Ziegler Chris Joubert Pe | H igi G11 G10 6:10: G1 6:6: 61610: 610; 616160: 6/616/ 626161) bee = TERRACE BAY RECREATION DEPARTMENT oe. = PRESENTS heal e "CHRISTMAS BREAK 1987" e S r S = December 20th Bowling 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. be ang GA] December 2ist Bowling 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. = e Skating 11:a.m. to 12: noon ea oocm Skating 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. eoc~ Gal December 22nd Skating 11:a.m. to 12: noon f--) oom Skating 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. oe CAT December 23rd Bowling 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. 'ae ofl e pore shes to Sed p.m. = ating :30 to 9:30 p.m. eee ea December 24th Skating 11:a.m. to 12: noon .--) ecm Skating 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. -- = RECREATION CENTRE CLOSED ON DECEMBER 24th at 4:00 p.m. = bean DECEMBER 25th RECREATION CENTRE CLOSED ALL DAY cs = December 26th Skating 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. eoce es. (807) 623-7309 road opened-up and used as another exit and entrance. Ziegler took photographs of the entrance to Terrace Heights and these he will add to the information he has on file about the intersection. All these facts will be present- ed to Ed Fulton on Dec. 17. "The MTC (Ministry of Transportation and Communications) keeps putting us off," Ziegler said. He added these delays have lasted for about eight or nine years, since the time the subdivi- sion was put in. Concentrate transfer access road Ziegler is also a bit peeved that the MTC approved the access road off of Highway 17 in Schreiber that leads to the CP Rail mine concentrate transfer facility. "I want the minister (Fulton) to be aware the MTC approved the entrance in Schreiber," said Ziegler. The "MTC told. Ziegler Ridgewood could not exist as another exit/entrance because it is not 1,000 feet from other roads and other traffic particulars, notably Terrace Heights Drive. The MTC says two roads such as these have to be at least 1,000 feet away from each other. Ziegler does not believe there is 1,000 feet between the access road in Schreiber and the merger lane that connects to Highway 17 beside the Petro-Canada station. Meet with premier Terrace Bay Councillors Ziegler and Joubert are in Toronto as part of NOMA (Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association) conference there. At the last NOMA, many res- olutions were passed relating to municipal concerns in the North. Today, representatives from various municipalities are meet- ing with Premier David Peterson and Cabinet. The reps will present these res- olutions to them and then it is up to the government if they will act on any of them.
