But there are restrictions. For instance, public use means use by average citizens, not people driving commercial or industrial vehicles. These drivers still have to obtain permission to drive these roads. Running said that during the last summer, MNR and Kimberly-Clark held discussions about the public use of the road network that runs north of Terrace Bay to Longlac and Geraldton. The Catlonite Road runs to Longlac and the Wintering Road runs to Geraldton. -- Catlonite Road The Catlonite Road to Longlac will be closed to the general public from Mile 14.5 to Mile 45, Monday to Friday, during the truck haul peri- ods. That section presents a definite public safety hazard agreed K-C and TOWNE CINEMA for a great night out and the best in new theatre releases 825-3771 THE LOBBY who knows movies better VHS & Beta rentals 825-9281 the MNR. Technically, it is open to general public use during the weekends and Statutory holidays. Wintering Road Public use of the Wintering Road to Geraldton is allowed at all times. There are two reasons for this. The first is that most of the large- truck traffic is on the Catlonite road, not the Wintering road. The other reason is that the Wintering Road is not as hilly and windy as the Catlonite Road. Running told the News that although public use is now allowed, these two roads are still Kimberly- Clark's. private forest roads. In the past, people needed permis- sion from K-C to travel these roads. public use FMA Running said five years ago Kimberly-Clark got involved with a Forest Management Agreement with the government. As part of this agreement, Kimberly-Clark became responsible for forest re-generation. Prior to this agreement, the Ministry of Natural Resources han- dled forest re-generation; forest com- panies would harvest and the MNR would regenerate. It is also part of the FMA that the timber companies' roads be open to general public use. Once again, general public means average citizens, not people driving commercial or industrial vehicles. see page 7 824-3336 CHIROPRACTOR Nor-Shore Chiropractor - MOUNTAIN VIEW PLAZA SCHREIBER WEDNESDAY 12 to 8:00 p.m. Clinic or Sportsworld 824-2506 AMA Sq 44 "4 #3 > H te le Ve ie Vie tte ~ Towne Cinema & the Lobby is presenting a S «6M FREE MATINEE ~ 3 Liz] "4 Feud eh Fred e Merr 4 i: 3, Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland" aj re on Sunday Dec. 13th 'at 1:00 p.m. Santa will also be on hand at 12:30 to hear your Christmas Wishes.
