The theme of the service "Called to Respond", and those taking part in the service were Mrs. Margaret Smith, president of the U.C.W., Ruth Hiller, Marlene Doig, Eva Gordon, Gwen Hadley, Margaret Nesbitt, Earline Johnson and Nean McKenna. Beth Macadam, past president, gave the message. Local businessman is concerned about downtown cyclists Dear Sir, I read with interest your edito- rial on safe cycling. Of particular interest was the paragraph "Cyclists are considered drivers under the law and traffic rules, signs, and signals apply to them just as they do to the motorist". As you are aware, we have a serious problem with cyclists rid- ing on the sidewalks, particularly the Simcoe Plaza sidewalk. The first candles were for remembering those poineers in the church who paved the way for the present day- for remembering too the first Missionary Society in Malpeque, P.E.I., in 1925. The second candle was lit for the present. Following the service a social time was enjoyed in the church hall over lunch and coffee, pre- pared by the lunch committee of the U.C.W.
