The St. John Berchmen Altar Society held their last meeting until September, on Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Laura Legault. The President, Mrs. Prina Gerow, chaired the meeting and led in the opening prayers and scripture reading. The retiring Priest, Rev. Father Peter Groulx, was present. The minutes and financial statement were moved for adop- tion and the report on the recent flea market and bake sale was excellent. Mrs. Josephine Kenney report- ed that the grotto flowers had been planted. A donation from Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schelling was received and gratefully accepted by Mrs. Gerow. The president statea 'hat two contractor firms had sent in estimates to build new steps at the church. Neither estimate was accepted until after closing date. Payment was sent to the Don Bosco mission until September. It was decided to hold the annual Lake Trout dinner on Saturday, October 3. Further plans will be made at the September meeting for this event. Mrs. Gail Bain invited the members to meet at her home for the September meeting. Following closing prayers and blessings from Father Groulx, Mrs. Gerow presented him with a brass etching of a sailboai as a memory of Rossport. Father Groulx is leaving short- ly to be pastor of the Roman Catholic parish of Dryden. He will be sadly missed by his parishioners of this area.
