Joint venture The Nipigon Bay Resort is run by six local couples. Sue and Mike Glad, Norman and*Coleen Glad and Robin and Patricia Moore have owned and operated the resort for the last three years (this is their third summer). Sue and Mike Glad talked to the News and said they like to call the resort a "family business". Mike Glad said that he grew up running around and playing in that area. Sue and Mike live in Terrace Bay and the two other couples reside in Schreiber. The Glads said there is great fishing opportunities at the resort. The month of May is great for fishing for Steelhead and Rainbow Trout. Mike said certain customers have been fishing for Steelhead and staying at the resort for the last 25 years. Great escape The Glads said that June is a great month for local people to come to the resort. "There are no flies" and people can take a break from being in town, they said. The previous owners of the resort got away from outfitting, but now the resort is providing this service again, said Mike Glad. Bear hunting is popular at the resort and the season runs from April 15 to June 15 and from the beginning of September to late October. The resort is also a good spot for Moose, deer and partridge hunting. So much to do People staying at the resort can also sightsee, have access to fly- in trips, sail, sncrkel, rock hunt (amethyst, agate, greenstone) and scuba dive (Mike said there is a 120-foot long schooner, the Mary McGloughlin, wrecked in Gravel Bay).
