Dan Leroux and Andy De- quanne are now owners of Normar Industrial Supply Ltd... The two men recently moved their headquarters to the Mill Road (in what was formerly the Wistway, building). Dan Leroux told the News that the operation actually began in September of last year- "a low-key operation out of the house," he said. A major reason for the move was to display the products in a more orderly and professional manner. '*Warehousing was a big problem. We had no place [to display]," said Leroux. -fires down, 'copter crash This Week In Fire From the Ministry of Natural Resources office in Manitouwadge The forecast danger rating for the Northcentral region is from low to moderate. To date in the region, there have been 780 fires and 25,575 hectares of land have been burn- ed (this season). As of Sunday, May 24, there were no new fires. Forest fires in the region are under control and crews are mopping up, smudging, retriev- ing hose, etc. Al Turner, with the MNR in Manitouwadge, also told the News that a helicopter crashed near Manitouwadge last Satur- day. The helicopter was about one-half mile from takeoff on its way to Thunder Bay when it went down. The pilot was hurt but not seriously. He is expected to be out of the hospital in five days, Turner said. A 205 helicopter from Geraldton was called in to sling the downed helicopter from the lake to the shore. The accident is =. under investigation. supply co Korkay franchise Leroux and Dequanne have pur- chased a franchise from Korkay and they offer these industrial pro- ducts out of their new warehouse. Korkay offers such a varied list of products it would be impossible to name them all. But 'the list does include: air deodorant, bowl cleaner, engine degreasers, all-purpose cleaner, fresh air mist, floor polish, a neutralizer (air cleaner), glass cleaner, window cleaner, hand creams, a full line of janitorial pro- ducts, and car restoration products (with Ming-type finish). Leroux said they test the pro- ducts right at their warehouse even after they've been tested by the head office. Leroux said that Normar handles over 200 different manufacturers' products. And whatever Normar doesn't have in stock is simply ordered. Leroux- "We are wholesalers, suppliers, agents for manufacturers and a retail outfit."' In a nutshell, Normar has min- ing supplies, pulp and paper sup- plies, heating and ventilation sup- plies, motel/hotel and restaurant equipment as well as a_phar- maceutical line. But Leroux said that Normar is for the most part geared to supply- ing the mining sector. Entrepreneurs The two men responsible for Normar are both local people. Dan Leroux, who has lived in Schreiber for about two years now, has found a full-time job with Nor- mar. He is also a part-time am- bulance attendant with the North Shore Ambulance Service.
