As part of the Education Week program, the elementary schools of the Lake Superior Board of Education held their annual Oral Communication Festival on Tuesday, April 28. This year's contest was hosted by Schreiber Public School. There were 2 speakers chosen from each school to compete in each of the Junior (Gr. 4-6) and Intermediate (Gr. 7-8) divisions. Sixteen speakers from Manitouwadge, Marathon, Ter- race Bay and Schreiber Public Schools participated. Music Festival The Lake Superior Board of Education held its 1987 Music Festival on Friday., May 8, to a very enthusiastic crowd of students and parents alike. e Bands and = singers from Manitouwadge, Marathon, Schreiber and Terrace Bay perform- ed and variety of selections, sometimes together and also separately. Songs that were played by the per- formers included Stand By Me, The Tango, the Prime Time Overature, Sloop John B., Love is a Song, Rock Around the Clock, Hello Dolly, and The Muppet Show theme. There was also a special treat as Guest Conductor Laura Thomas. (See above photo). Marathon Public School also captured the divisional trophy for the Junior grades.
