'When I stay in Thunder Bay my first choice is the LANDMARK INN § J don't have a second choice asting time looking fora good hotel, isn't my idea of a fun weekend or an efficient bus- iness trip, so whenever I'm in Thunder Bay I . Stay at the Landmark. Two restaurants, two lounges, a huge swim- ming pool, his and her saunas and County Fair Plaza is a 45 second walk from the hotel. That's the reason my wife and kids like to come on business trips. For me, it's the unlimited free local telephone calls, the convenient meeting rooms and the no problem attitude of the management and staff of the Landmark. It's been my experience that you can pay a lot more for less, that's » why I always stay at the Landmark. Phone 767-1681 In Our Past One year ago- 1986 Petal Patch One year ago the Petal Patch of Terrace Bay moved from one loca- tion in Simcoe Plaza to another- to Terry's Sight and Sound. The stores combined and opened for business exactly one year ago on March 18. The combination was made for a number of reasons: it gave Louise Korzinski access to more assistants from her husband Terry's store; it cut down on expenses; it created dual business for Louise and Terry. The original Petal Patch opened on November 29 (the present editor's birthdate), 1984. Files resigns At the March 24, 1986, meeting of Terrace Bay Council, Jim Files resigned after only three months as a councillor. Files resigned his seat so he could move to Orilla, Ontario, to accept a job as Director of Technical Services at Soldier's Memorial Hospital. Files was the Chief Lab Technologist at the McCausland Hospital. Five years ago- 1982 The Beach Road Apartments and Townhouses were opened. Improvements to the townsite included curbing and new sidewalks. 10 years ago- 1977 Kimberly-Clark-owned railway cars began delivering wood from the Exton slasher to the Terrace Bay mill. The mill expansion was completed. 20 years ago- 1967 The centennial fountain was erected. Amethyst, opalite, pyrolite, quartz and zinc were used. The Aguasabon Golf Course was officially opened after several changes and modifications were made. 25 years ago- 1962 The Municipal Office opened in what is now Moore's of Terrace Bay.
