The Fun Run will be held MONDAY, MAY 25 'from 7-9 p.m. The course will again start at the high school and proceed to the public school and back. Even with the little bit of in- formation that we have receiv- ed, it is obvious that there is a conspiracy afoot on the North Shore to defeat the two-time champs from Schreiber. If Schreiber is going to win again this year, we must mobilize now. Any groups or individuals wishing to issue challenges can do so by contac- ting the recreation office. All challenges will be published in the local paper. Anyone with ideas. or unique and unusual ways of advertising this event locally should contact the recreation office. Canada Day Dance Don't forget to mark Satur- day, June 27, down on your im- portant dates calendar. This is the night that you will rock and roll the night away. I do hope everybody is OK; we are into another month and nice spring weather. It has been quiet here at Birchwood, but soon we will be like butterflies and come out of our cocoons after the long winter. Our loyal bridge playing friends were in on Tuesday, and we thank them. Our residents do enjoy hav- ing them come; it's'a-nice way to pass the afternoon. This past week we received a gift of a nice aquarium donated by Ray Black and one of our staff, Amanda Morissette, started our collection of fish by givving us two gold fish. We would like to thank these nice folks for their kindness. We will soon have our feathered friends to watch; our backyard in summer is like a small park and it's a great pasttime to watch them feeding. At our stage of life, we have time to stop and smell the roses and watch the birds; it's very restful. This. time, I have one small 'bite', but it seems every spring I put this in the column. Please folks, don't use our driveway to turn around in now _ that it's nicer outside, many of our residents go out and walk in front of the home and believe me, som- times the cars go by too fast and none of us here are not too fast on our feet anymore. So before so- meone gets hurt, please do not use our driveway to turn and change directions. Thank-you. Now for a wee 'joke'. "The trouble with being a parent is that by the time you're experienced, you're unemployable." Until next time, au revoir. Correction In the March 25 issue of the News, Stella Gusol was incorrect- ly spelled as Gusola. In last week's story about Miguel Huezo, Schreiber resident Bill Campbell was mistaken for Father Bernard Campbell. It is Bill Campbell who said he will drive to El Salvador to get Miguel's family. The News apologizes for any in- convenience this may have caused. ae Peorthis DRYCLEANING SERVICES Plain Dresses Comforters Sleeping Bags Sweaters & Blankets 7 Simcoe Plaza Terrace Bay 825-3776 Specials March 30 to April 11 *5.29 *5.49 *6.29 *2.99 TRAILER PARK Schreiber 824-2617
