It was taken on Jan. 2 at the turnoff into Rossport. In the picture Hansen is shown receiving a purse of $254 from Jack Camp- bell and Darrin Gerow, two victims of spinal cord injuries sustained from car accidents. Mrs. Gwen Gerow and Mrs. Patricia Campbell made the col- lection for this worthy cause. Several villagers were present to cheer Hansen on his way. Christakos, Environment Canada director-general of Parks for the Ontario Region, announced on Jan. 21 that Luce Charron will become Superintendent of Pukaskwa National Park, Marathon. A release stated that Mme Charron's appointment becomes effective Feb. 9. Charron replaces Doug Hodgins who has been appointed Superintendent at Prince Albert National Park in Saskatchewan. Luce is presently Chief of Natural Resource Conservation at the Ontario Regional office in Cornwall. She has worked in various positions in the Parks Service since 1973. A geographer, her career began at headquarters in Ottawa working on resource inventory and other projects associated with national park. She then moved to the Atlantic TYPING New superintendent at Pukaskwa Park Regional Office in Halifax where she co-ordinated the natural resource studies programme. In October, 1977, she came to Cornwall and in 1982 she was appointed Chief of Natural Resource Conservation for the Ontario Region. "*Luce's background and expérience is particularly appropriate in assuming the management of the Ontario Region's largest wilderness park," said Mr. Chirstakos in the release. "'As superintendent she will deal directly with the difficult problems of balanc- ing environmental protection with the pressure of the visitors' desire to ex- perience the national park," he added. Luce is a native of Laval, Quebec, and she was educated at the Universi- ty of Montreal. She will take up residence in Marathon, Ontario, Feb.
