The Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame invites sports groups and the general public to submit to its In- duction Selection Committee the names. of persons or teams that have con- tributed to the sports heritage of Nor- thwestern Ontario. Qualifications To qualify as a nominee for election as an Honoured Member to the Nor- thwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, an athlete, builder or team must meet the following conditions: General: 1) A nominee must be a Canadian Citizen and either born in Northwestern Ontario or a resident of Northwestern Ontario during the period of time that the nominee developed the skills that Legion On Dec. 13, 1986, the Legion held its annual Children's Christmas Party. Santa Claus (Dick Morriseau) and the clown (Andy Lauzon) made the day. Thank-you gentlemen for a tremen- dous afternoon. Elections were held at the Dec. 14 general meeting. Results are as follows: President- George Churney Ist Vice- Clarence Mercier 2nd Vice- Len Burns Secretary- Lisette Wenzel Treasurer- Richard Flanagan Sgt. at Arms- Paul Wenzel led to the distinction as an athlete or builder. Athlete: 1) Must fall within one of the two following categories: a) one who has performed as a professional b) an amateur who has competed at the local, provincial, national or interna- tional level 2) Not normally considered until after a three-year waiting period following either: a) retirement from major competition or b) the performance of a particularly outstanding achievement. Builder: 1) A person, other than an athlete, who has meritoriously served in the field of sport in a capacity such as an hews Vacancies exist for three commit- tees. If you are interested in taking up one of these positions, please advise a member of the executive. We closed out 1986 with a New Year's Eve Dance that was well attend- ed by members and visitors to Terrace Bay. Thanks to Costa's Food Store staff for preparing our buffet.
