Group prize- First place- 'The Old Woman in a Shoe' by Brenda Birch, Joey and Michelle Godin, Bruce and Terry Thompson, Laureen Kay and Debbie Bourguignon, and Colleen Fischer. Second place- 'Playboy Club' by Mr. and Mrs. Barry Gilmore, Mr. and Mrs. John St. Amand, Mr. and Mrs. Engler, Mr. and Mrs. Kaiser, Mr. and Mrs. Studdard and Mr. and Mrs. Jowitt. She was entertained by her family on her 95th birthday with a supper and many gifts. Congratulations 'Nonie'. Thanks to all who sent cards and gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Maronese celebrated their anniversary and retirement with relations and friends. Congratulations. Catholic Women's League Report The Holy Angels' CWL held its November meeting on Sunday, Nov. 9. Nineteen members were in attendance. The meeting opened with a prayer and reflective poem read by President Georgette. Mary read the minutes of the previous meeting and the correspondence. Jackie's education report mention- ed the PTA meeting and the infor- mative talk given by Sr. Alice Greer from the Smith Clinic in Thunder Bay. It was about alcohol and drug abuse and was very interesting. Colleen reported that the bazaar is coming along nicely. She still needs help on the cleanup committee. Janet reported that names of 25-year members, deceased members and those who had received Maple Leaf Service Pins were sent to the Canadian League magazine for publication. The October Rosary was discuss- ed and it was felt that it didn't go over well being said after-mass. In May, we will try saying the Scriptural Rosary once a week and hope it will be well attended. Georgette reminded everyone of the need for volunteers to convene First Friday Senior's Tea and also CWL Sunday coffee after mass. Please call if you are able to help. A convener is also needed for the Bir- chwood Terrace Penny Auction in December. Members have decided that we would like to go caroling Dec. 12 for seniors and shut-ins. Marg Connelly will send cards to retired and senior citizens. They will also receive a list of people who can drive them to and from CWL functions. We hope this will help our seniors to participate more. Father mentioned that he would like to hold a course for five weeks on Monday afternoons and evenings. It will be a Basic Introduction to the Bible. If you are interested, please call him. Cathy Riley's group provided cof- fee and entertainment after the meeting. She gave a Mary Kay make- up demonstration and held a draw for some Mary Kay fragrances. Therese Martin was the lucky winner. We are looking forward to much fun at our December/Christmas meeting. There will be a gift ex- change ($5 limit) so plan now to attend. Don't forget the Bazaar, Nov. 22.
