By Gerry Withers On Saturday, Oct. 25, the Terrace Bay Ringette Association staged its first successful event of the season-- a bottle drive which raised close to $700 in little more than an hour. The effort even managed to come up with a half-full case of beer! Now that's a bottle drive! As a result of the generosity of the townspeople, the Ringette Associat- ion Executive will now be able to pur- chase new sweaters for our girls to wear when representing Terrace Bay at out-of-town tournaments. For those interested, the Ringette Executive meets on the last Sunday of each month, during the ringette season, in the Rec Centre Conference Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, November 5, 1986, page 5 Local ringette bottle drive called a success Room. The public are welcome to at- tend at 8 p.m. Did you know: Proper ringette sticks are not just the handles of old hockey sticks. They are specially con- structed and each stick is inspected by referees before a game to ensure that it is not splintered or otherwise worn such that it might cause injury to the players. Sticks may not be raised above the shoulder level--doing so results in a penalty (and nullification of any goal scored when the stick has been rais- ed in celebration of a scofe). Proper sticks are available to the girls through Mrs. Linda Falzetta, a member of the executive. Cribbage champs ament held at the Terrace Bay Legion Hall on Nov. 1. They are shown with their trophy. after clinching first place in the contest. Cheque presented Oct. 30 at the hospital in Terrace Bay. The money was raised earlier this year during the team's annual Fun in the Fog Slow-Pitch tour- nament, won by a team from Atikokan. NOTICE WE'RE MOVING!
