Winnie's Scribbles By Winnie Campbell The regular meeting of the Chimo Club in Schreiber was held on Oct. 17 with President Beth McAdam wel- coming the guests, the 30 regular members, and a new member, Mrs. Jartrus. Pat Guina read the treasurers report and thanked all who helped while he was on his holidays. Eva Gordon, secretary, read the letters. The Christmas Bazaar will be held on Nov. | in the Club Room from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be baking and knitting tables and a draw for socks. Anyone wanting tickets, please ask any Club member. The Christmas Party will be held on Dec. 12 in the Town Hall base- ment. Mrs. Bern Jacomb gave her report for the bereaved and sick. Hallowe'en costumes were won by Mrs. B. Miller, first; Win Campbell, second; and Beth McAdam, third. Shuffleboard was played, and won by Alex Gordon and Mavis Slater, first; and Jack Handel and Eva Gordon, second. Birthdays were sung to Aletha Morris, Beth McAdam, Alex Gor- don, B. Miller, and Celio Valentino. The winners were Marg McKenna, Celia Valentino, Marg Nesbitt, and Etta and J. Gellert. Bridge was played and won by Al Slater and J. Gellert. Lunch was serv- ed with birthday cake. The hall was decorated with Hallowe'en posters, and the Home Bingo was won by Mrs. Bobush. Another one will start on Nov. 1. Mrs. Retta Pearson has returned from visiting relatives in St. Thomas and other points. Gary and Muriel Shewfelt from Echo Bay visited Mom Marg Nesbitt and family for Thanks- giving. New hours A number of area merchants have banded together to make Thursday a late shopping night in Terrace Bay. Ken Randle of The Print Shop helped to get the campaign underway. His store is only one of several now open on Thursday nights until 8 p.m. The others include Churchley's, Robinson Store, Strawberry Patch, Terry's Sight and Sound, the Petal Patch, Granny's Best, Photo Prints, the Terrace Bay-Schreiber News of- fice, and Moore's. The extended shopping hour pro- gram began on Oct. 23, Randle said. More Terrace Bay merchants may be getting involved over the next few weeks, as the Christmas shopping season nears.
