An eight-hour emergency first aid course is just one of the many pro- grams being offered by the Terrace Bay Recreation Office this fall. The St. John Ambulance first aid course will take place on Nov. 29 for four hours, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and concluded on Nov. 30, again from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This course will be certified by the St. John Ambulance. A release from the Recreation Office pointed out that taking the course may prove helpful in dealing with emergency situations either at home or at work. Body Basics Due to the response of this popular class, there will be another session of- fered commencing Nov. 4. This pro- gram takes place every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Youth Bowling Now is the time to register your child for Youth Bowling. This class is open to youth aged seven to 14 years. The program commences this Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Call the Rec Office at 825-3542 for more information. Ceramics Workshop Sylvia will now be holding a Thursday night ceramics workshop commencing on Oct. 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Contact the Rec Office for more information. Emotional Stress Release Have you ever felt pressured by either your work situation or just dealing with everday situations? Why not come out to the Conference Room at the Rec Centre tonight, Oct. 1, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and learn how to get your feelings back in pers- pective. Knitting (Advanced) This program will be geared for participants who know the basics of knitting. Cable stitch, lace stiches, and learning to work with colours will be taught. The course starts on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Recreation Centre. Krafts for Kids . Oct. 30 is.the start date for this in- teresting children's program. It will include printing, weaving, clay work, etc. The class is open to children ag- ed seven to 12. Learn To Skate We have several openings in the afternoon Learn To Skate program. This session will start on Monday, Oct. 20 and run every Monday and Wednesday afternoon thereafter from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Macrame Sherri Brand will be instructing this program of Basic Macrame knots. The program is a one-day ses- sion to be held on Sunday, Oct. 19 commencing at 10 a.m. Photography We need more registration in this one-day photography course to make it a success. Basic instruction in the sue of a 35 mm camera and the use of creative filters and flash systems will be demonstrated. Quilting Would you like to learn how to make quilts, tote bags, pillows, etc. by using the hand or machine stitch methods? Give us a call at 825-3542 for more information on this course. Racquetball Lessons Keith Milne, an excellent racquet- ball player, is willing to commence lessons to adults on Oct. 7. This four- week program is scheduled for Tues- days from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Get some enjoyment out of life by learning the game of racquetball. Rice Paper Lampshades This program will be held on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25. This intriguing, useful art will be taught by Darlene Noble. You can style or refinish your new or old lampshades. Call the Rec Office for further details. Squash Lessons (Adult) Gerry Mikalauskas will be instruc- ting the adult squash lessons this fall. Gerry is an excellent player and is willing to teach this sport to begin- ners. We need more registration for this program, which is due to start on Oct. 16. Stained Glass This interesting ancient art form program will commence:on Oct. 14. Ken Randle will be teaching it, us- ing the copper foil technique. Win- dow hangings and possibly a small lamp shade will be made during this program.
