Bits and Bit By Helene Ballard Hi! Time again for an- other chat. I trust you're all well, enjoying what's left of our northern summer. I would like at this time to mention the fact that a 'bite' I had in this column several sweeks ago in res- ponse to phone calls and from people around town regarding the deplorable conditions of a house and yard in the new sub-divis- ion has a happy ending. I noticed the grass has been cut at the house and things in general have been cleaned up. I wish to thank whoever is responsible for this. It really helps a lot and makes things look so much better. We had our monthly bir- thday party last week for Winnie's our residents put on by the Home Complete, with a yummy cake thanks to our chef, Leon. After our cake and coffee a lively game of Bingo was enjoyed. Our birthday kids were Ester Luoma, Stewart An- derson, Werner Ziegler, and William Dodds. Our thanks to. the home and staff for an enjoyable afternoon. During this nice weather our Activities Director, Sylvie Angus, has been taking some of our resid- ents out in our bus. They have made a few visits to our friends in the Chimo Club in Schreiber where we always get a warm wel- come. We had a bit of excite- ment today when a cute bear cub paid us a visit in our backyard. The poor lit- tle thing must have lost his mother. He seemed to be so scared. -I am not sure what his fate was, but I thought I heard gunshots. Too bad. I know something had to be done for the safe- ty of the children, but it seems such a waste of our wildlife. The other night our good friend Pam Jones dropped in and we enjoyed a sing- along. We have missed you, Pam. Please don't be a stranger. Drop in again soon, and thanks for com- ing the other night. How are things coming in regard to our Fall Fair -- on September 14? We have been busy here at Birch- wood Terrace getting ready Scribbles for our table at this event. You will be able to see our crafts table and, at the same time, you will also see that even if we are senior cit- izens, we still have some- thing to offer our "younger folks." See you there. Until next time, remem- ber: "It's not the size of the dog in the fight that counts, it's the size of the fight in the dog." Au revoir.
