The Singleton Family Reeve Chapman admitt- ed that she is "'not too keen" on the idea of tape recorded meetings herself, and suggested Council re- ceive input from its lawyer before passing any motion on the matter. A number of quotations for overhead door replace- ment at the town Fire Hall were opened at the meeting and a motion was prepared and passed which accepted the quotation from North- ern Engineering and Supp- ly Company of Thunder Bay. The quote, for three overhead doors plus elect- rical work, was $13,911. Councillor Jim Ziegler reminded Council that it had only budgeted $10,000 for the project. '"Where are we going to- get the extra money for this?" he asked. "The fire budget is al- ways an 'ify' thing,' Ram- say replied. The motion ac- cepting the quote was then put to a vote and carried. There will be a second attempt to test the town's emergency siren on August 22, after the first try did not go off as scheduled earlier this month. Council was told that Kimberly-Clark had not been instructed to conduct the test the first time. Reeve Chapman later told Council there will be a meeting on September 18 with the Assistant Deputy Minister of Northern Af- fairs and Mines. It had originally been~scheduled for September 13. Doug Melville of the Ministry's office in Thunder Bay told the News that the meeting will be a closed. one. Council was also sched- uled to meet with officials from the Winston Lake zinc mine project this week. The mine, which is to go into production next year, is located northwest of Schreiber. It will employ up to 150 workers. It is ex- pected that some of those future employees will live in Terrace Bay. Formerly of Schreiber, Margaret & George reside in London, Ontario where their femily recently gathered to celebrate their special day. A mass was held in their honour at St. Peter's Basilica where they married 50 years ago. This was followed by a family dinner where they were presented with a V.C.R. Other highlights included an Open House hosted by Shane & Wendy Walsh and receiving numerous cards, gifts and phone calls from old friends. Out of Town guests included: Peter Walsh (Waterloo); Barry, Lynn & Georgia Walsh; Aaron Walsh & Christine Piesniak; Kelly Walsh & Karen Monula (Thunder Bay); Nora & John Kelly (Toronto).
