A total of four district fire departments took part in the event. Along with the host team and Schreiber were squads from Hurkett and White River, accord- ing to Fire Prevention Off- icer Dave Bellamy. By winning the compet- ition, Schreiber won the right to host the event next year, Bellamy. added. Each team was made up of five members, and all four teams took part in three different games. The first game involved a 250 foot hose lay and required five targets to be knocked down. The second game called for four team members to run with a 15 foot ladder toward a 10 foot frame and rest the ladder against the frame. One team member would take the hose and nozzle to the top of the lad- der to knock down targets while the other members of the team would hold the Jadder and hose in place, and turn on the water. The third and final game was.a bucket brigade. Each team had to fill a 45 gallon drum using buckets, draw- ing from a port-a-tank app- roximately 25 feet away. Bellamy explained. that the final score revealed Schreiber had the best total time for the three events. That team was presented with a trophy by one of the judges, Thunder Bay's Fire Chief Jack Bryant.
