Anne Kinney was chapter Queen and graduated as a Kops. She was also a division winner as well as a 30 pound plus loser. Edythe Cosgrove, a 40 pound plus loser and an 11 year alumni KOP was valedictorian for the graduation. Linda Oster was a division winner. Judy St. Amand, Edythe Cosgrove and Polly King were recognized as alum- ni KOPS. Irene Borutski won the leader's award for Helen LeBlanc's area and the Schreiber Chapter also won an award for parti- cipation. Also attending the rally were Mary Madge, Marg Tiboni and Lucy Mathews, who were hostesses for the event. Also acting as hostesses were Polly King, Anne Kinney and Judy St. Amand all under the capable hands of head hostess Edythe Cosgrove. Two new mem- Rossport Report By Anne Todesco Mac Hubelit, a former business man of Rossport now residing in Thunder Bay, visited his brother William and wife Jose- phine Hubelit and renewed acquantances here this week. Mrs. Hilda Mush- qush_ returned from Nipigon hospital Friday. Mrs. Sara Armstrong of Vaveny, British Columbia, is visiting her daughter Victoria and family. Fishing off the Govern- ment dock this week has been very successful. The children have caught trout averaging between two and a half to ten pounders, I bers, Susan Singer and Marg Connelly, were wel- comed. Many upcoming events are in the early planning stages. The Penny Auction will be in September and the Christmas Bazaar will be in November. The World Day of Prayer will be held at Holy Angels next year. The Friendship First Communion Tea is set for June 1 for communicants and parents. Father Peter said a few words about the CWL con- vention, and added that the Holy Angels Council is on June 2. This is the largest outside of Thunder Bay. The Refugee Committee meets on June 1. The meeting adjourned with a lunch by Colleen Gauthier, with coffee and cheesecake. A Chinese Auction was also held. The Chimo Club held their meeting in the Town Hall basement on Friday, May 16, with guests from Marathon. A delicious lunch was served. The meeting was open- ed with Mrs. Beth McAdam presiding. She introduced all and thanked everyone for the successful Bake Sale on May 9. Col- leen Gauthier was the win- ner of the doilie donated by Mavis Slater. Death Notice SPIKULA - Mrs. Juliana Helen Spikula, aged 83 years, of Schreiber, Ontario died der Bay hospital May 5, 1986. A native of the Ukraine, she was a resi- dent of Schreiber since 1930. Her family and garden were her main interests. Sur- viving are four sons: Hobden and his wife Doloras, Ramo and John of Schreiber and Peter of Toronto, by 8 grandchildren and other relatives in the Ukraine. The Mom and Me org- anization closed off their season's work by holding a Spring Festival gathering of mothers and grand- mothers in the community hall Saturday evening. The evening was sponsored by Project Mayday. Fresh red roses were presented to the mothers who kept the pro- ject going. Colleen Kenney presented the roses to Laura Legault, Laurajane Tymko, Billiejoe Keating, Vickey Armstrong, Cathy Adey, Linda Joiner and ab- sent were Louise Stefurak and Viana Bain. Colleen thanked them for their assistance. A toast was led by Lyne McGrath to Colleen and presented her with a gift in recognition of her leader- ship. Monday evening there was a gathering of the women at the hall to discuss holding craftwood sessions such as quilting, knitting, crocheting, em- broidering, driftwood, bak- ing, ect. for the coming season. Card games were held such as bridge, five hundred, and cribbage which was very pleasing. Further decisions and plans will be studied. The Mother's Day pen- ny auction sponsored by the St. John Berchmen Altar Sociey was a huge success. It was convened by Doris Legault. There were over 300 prizes to compete for. The afgan draw was won by Margaret Audziss of Schreiber. The decorated cake went to Oloaf Sundland of Ross- port. The homemade sport jacket was captured by Tif- fany Jowipp of Schreiber and the door prize went to Anita Caron of Terrace Bay. It was a set of silver teaspoons. Born in Thunder Bay Mr. King spent a most colourful life on the North Shores of Lake Superior making Rossport his home. Mr. King was a commerical fisherman out of Rossport with his son Benny who predeceased him in Sept. 1960. He is also predeceased by his wife Cecile (Nee Fisher) and by brothers Joe, Eli, Mose and Peter. Survived by his son Peter, daughter-in-law Eleanor, grandchildren Scott & Debbie of Sub- bury also survived by one sister Mary Cecilia Corr of Birmingham, Michigan.
