Hello everybody! I trust all is well with you nice readers. It seems like our weather is really trying to warm up....lets hope so. Last May 10, one of our sweet little ladies celebrated her 90th birth- day. All her large family were here to help Fleurette McBride with a celebration she won't forget. There was a family dinner in the Rec room here at Bir- chwood and during the evening many friends came to wish this lady a Happy Birthday. Fleurette received many lovely gifts and floral ar- rangements. All of us here wish her good health and more birthdays. Someone told her she would be here to celebrate her 100th bir- thday to which she replied 'tyes and maybe more". God Bless you, dear Fleurette. On the 15th, the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Church in Schreiber were hostesses for our monthly Birthday party and we all enjoyed a "Penny Auc- tion'. The "Birthday Kids" for May are August Rantz, Fleurettee McBride, Norma Fummerton and yours truly, yep all of us are "39". Our grateful thanks to the Ladies Aux- iliary of the United Church. If I may extend an invita- tion to come to Birchwood Terrace May 23 from 2 to 4 for a Bake Sale sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of Birchwood Terrace. So come and meet your friends and at the same time be able to buy some delicious baked goods. I understand our wild friends the moose are quite numerous right now on the highway so please do be careful driving. A run-in with one of these mighty creatures could be costly. As news is scarce this week, I'll close this attempt at writing. Until next week a wee story: Little Joe has Two on teams The Thunder Bay Amateur Hockey associa- tion (TBAHA) announced on May 13 its list of coaches and players for the Under 17 Camp '86 scheduled for next month, with one coach and one player both from Schreiber on the list. John MacKenzie was named as one of two assis- tant coaches on the White Team, while Cory Huard will play right wing for the Blue Team. MacKenzie served as coach for the North Shore championship Terrace Bay-Schreiber Midget Commodores team last season. - We need your support. Cancer can be beaten. The camp has been re- scheduled to June 12 to 15. The TBAHA news release noted that anyone in- terested in viewing the practices or games at the Current River Arena in Thunder Bay are more than welcome to do so. Also on the Blue and White teams are players and ccaches from Dryden, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Fort Frances, Atikokan, Marathon, and Thunder Bay. Blue versus White mat- ches will take place on June 13 at 7 p.m., June 14 at 7 p.m. and June 15 at9a.m., the release added. CANADIAN | SOCIETE CANCER CANADIENNE SOCIETY Du CANCER a bad habit of calling the nuns at his school "Sis"' and the priests "Pop", so one day Father Murphy took Joe aside and told him that the Priests did not mind too much being call- ed "Pop" and the nuns did not mind being called "*Sis", but said Father, "'when you refer to our Lord and his diciples as J.C. and the boys, that's going too far'.
