Rossport Report by Anne Todesco A big welcome back home goes to Ray and Josephine Kenney on their return after spending the winter in Brownsville, Texas and several jaunts into Mexico. They report little or no rain with high temperatures. Also Frances Campbell, another resi- dent, who spent three months with her daughter MaryClare in Miami, Florida reported a warm and pleasant holiday. Our third villagers were Alex and Krystis from Arizona but heard that the weatherman wasn't as generous with warm weather. Miss Lorraine Seppala was a_ business visitor to Thunder Bay this month. Romeo and Kathleen Bouchard spent several days at their cottage at Dalton, Ontario but couldn't enjoy fishing as there was considerable slush on the lake. The Don Benos are home from a holiday in Miami Beach in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Oloaf Sundland from Thunder Bay arrived to prepare their gift shop on Main Street on May the first. Jason Iddison is a patient in McCausland Hospital, Terrace Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gerow and daughter Cathy have returned from a holiday in Sudbury with the Peter Kings and attending their retirement party. Mrs. Anne Todesco was a business visitor in Port Ar- thur recently. Peter Gerow is on a motoring tour in the United States. Another old building in Rossport was torn down to make room to build a modern home. The log house was constructed by a Mr. Salt in the 1880's. He delivered mail along the railway during construction days. Island and Slate Islands for the season by helicopter this week. The Rossport Bay is free of ice as far as one can see, but there is a sheet of ice in the center of the harbour and near the Government dock. Soon the boats will be leaving the harbour to fish. Final plans were made for the annual Mother's Day Penny Auction when St. John Berchmen Altar Society held their monthly meeting Thursday evening. Mrs. Pat Beno of Selim Siding hosted the group. Both the minutes and finan- cial statement were passed for adoption. Cor- respondence was heard and dealt with according to the contents. Mrs. Doris Legault chaired the meeting and lead in the discussions, and prayers for peace. It was noted that pictures of the child sponsored by the organization has not been put in the news columns along with her life story. Inquiries are to be made to engage a grounds maintenance person to keep the church lawn well cut, watered and tidy.
