Story Time tops with kids Prior to the regular meeting of the Schreiber Public Library Board held recently, the members of the board joined the members of Schreiber Council in the dedication of a plaque to Miss G. Hadley honoring 41 years of ser- vice to the library board. The regular February meeting was held at the home of Helen Stokes. The librarian, Billie Ann Saarinen, presented the new catalogues for talking books. Anyone interested in borrowing talking books is invited to contact the librarian for details. Our sympathy to Mrs. Hart of Terrace Bay and family on the passing of Harry Hart. The funeral service was held at the United Church here in Schreiber. Many friends and_ relatives attended. The regular monthly meeting of the Chimo Club was:held on.Friday, March 21 with 32 members atten- ding, and one guest speaker with Mrs. Beth McAdam, President, welcoming all. Mrs. Eva Gordon, secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting and cor- respondance, and Mr. Pat Guina, Treasurer, read his report and Bingo report. Mrs. Cheryl Hodgins explained Handi-Transit. Reports were given and ac- cepted, and Jack Handel is to make arrangements for the Wind-up Dinner for Shuffleboard members. Bern Jacomb reported on The Saturday Story Time continues to be very popular. It is held from 2 to 3 p.m. and participants can look forward to crafts, stories and games. After Story Time parents are en- couraged to assist their children in choosing books to take home and enjoy. Story Time is in need of volunteers, perhaps so- meone interested in pursu- ing a career in child care or someone seeking valuable experience working with children, for this program. Please contact the library if you are interested. Also, the possibility of a mid- week story program for pre-schoolers is being considered. It has been decided to continue Sunday hours due to the good response. The current library hours are on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., on Monday the library. is closed, and on Tuesday the library is open from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednes- day to Saturday, the library is open from 2 to 5 p.m. A workshop focusing on Menopause will be held at the library. This workshop is being held in conjunction with the Women's Health Network. A variety of material on this subject will be on display; this material is also available for bor- rowing. Cards are on sale for the April Bingo. The winners for the most Green worn were Reda and Mavis. Happy Birthdays were sung to Etta Grey, Helen Wallace, Mavis Slater, Marg Gerow, Jeanie Huard, and_ Eileen Winters. Lucky winners were Mildred Darcy, Eirene Harness, Mary In- atko, Mike McGrath, and Winnie Campbell. Lunch was served, and games of bridge and shuf- fleboard were played. Win- ners of bridge were Ladies High Mary Inatko, Low Alice. Chepelsky, and Mens High Pat Guina and Low Mike Chepelsky. The Shuffleboard was won by Beth McAdam and Eva Gordon First, and Etta Grey and Leona Fournier second. A film was shown by Al Slater and enjoyed by all. The next meeting will be on April the 18.
