Schreiber wins Pee Wee North Shore championship By Conrad Felber Due to a conflict of schedules; the Schreiber Travel Rest Eagles Pee Wee team had already won a berth in this weekend's District Pee Wee Cham- pionships before the North Shore area winners could be decided. However, fate and perhaps predestination stepped in, and Schreiber also won the North Shore event on March 23 over Terrace Bay Legion. The final game was a very tight affair throughout, with the game going to overtime. In the end, the Eagles emerged victorious in a 6-5 score. Schreiber advanced to the North Shore champion- ship game with a 15-2 win over. Marathon in the first of two total goales mat- ches. In the second game, Schreiber again dominated play, winning 9-1 over Marathon. Terrace Bay, on the other hand, had a tougher time, winning its first match against Manitouwadge 4-2 only to lose the second one, 6-5. However, Legion prevail- ed: when it came to total goals, 9-8, to advance to the final contest against Schreiber. In that final game, Schreiber managed to post a 4-3 lead before the end of the third period and seem- ed to be in command when, with just a minute left in the game, Terrace Bay pulled its goalie for an extra attacker. That strategy worked, as just seconds later the Legion squad managed to put one by Schreiber net- minder Bryon Cosgrove to tie the game. After consulting the rule book, it was announced that a 15 minute overtime period would be held with all goals counting. If the game was still tied, a sud- den death period would be held. It never got to that stage, though, as Schreiber outscored Terrace Bay 2-1 in the overtime session. The Eagles got the first goal to make it 5-4, and then Terrace Bay managed to tie it up with just 6:37 left, much to the delight of the partisan home crowd.
