'Snow' pitch champs The Deadheads, shown above, had no problem with the squad fielded by Recrea- tion, as they defeated them 11-4 in the final of the Schreiber Mixed Slow Pitch Championships held on March 9 as part of the town's Winter Carnival. by Helene Ballard Hello! If this snow keeps on, we won't know if we should say "Happy Easter'? or "Merry Christmas." I sure hope spring comes soon because I, for one, am tired of this white stuff. It has been another slow week. Many of our residents are still 'Hors de Combat" ... that's French for "Out of order." Those of us who made it down to the dining room for our meals looked like we were sent for and could not come. However, if the weather can clear up, I know we will all feel better. I would, at this time, like to say a word about the drivers of snowmachines. These past two weeks have been so much better ... no more noise after 11 p.m., and just one or two have driven through the back of Birchwood after midnight. I know we can all come to a very nice understanding of each other if we try. Please understand, I don't want to take your winter sport away from you, but I am sure you know how all that noise can upset folks, so let me say thank you for your co- operation. We had a nice surprise visit last night from a former resident of Terrace Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Rolly Sinotee were in town fora few days. We had a nice igi chat with Jeanne while Rol- ly was at a meeting. It was SO nice to see them looking so well. I hope things perk up so I'll have more to write about next time. Until then, a bit of advice: "Never point your finger at people; remember, there is a nail on the end of it." So long. + Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission télécommunications canadiennes DECISION Conseil de la radiodiffusion et Decision 86-154. TV Ontario. Two separate incidents of dangerous driving were Correction In the March 12 issue of the Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, the column titled '*Hospital Highlights" began with the words "'Terrace Bay's McCausland Hospital". Block Parents: Excuses for not becom- , ing a Block Parent! a) I work all day. Even if you can help for a few hours each week you would be of 'value. b) I am not a parent. No one should stop caring about the safety of children and other adults. Retired people and single people may certainly be block parents. c) Pll always help, sign or not. Let the little ones know it! Most children are taught to be wary of strangers, but that a Block Parent has been checked out by Police. d) I don't want to open my door to strangers. Naturally, if a hurt or frightened child seeks the assistance of a block parent, sanctuary would be offered. However, it is not necessary to allow strangers in your home. All that is required is for the parents or __ proper authorities to be contacted. e) There are enough Block Parents homes on our block already. The more block parent homes there are, the better _ protection. Large numbers are required as some block parents may only be available during a small part of each day or week. Block Parents care -- do . you? Be a Block Parent too.
