Preston McKeever of Schreiber was re-elected as President of the Terrace Bay District Rod and Gun Club at the organization's annual meeting held in Ter- race Bay on January 20. McKeever was acclaim- ed to the position, as was Bill Tait in the Vice- President election, after two other members declin- ed their own nominations. Following the elections, McKeever discussed a number of things with the club members in atten- dance, including the up- coming Open House at the proposed Slate Islands land use plan, which will be held Feb. 4 and 5 at the Ministry of Natural Resources 'Terrace Bay District Office. He also explained that the 40,000 speckled trout eggs that the club obtained last year are now in an in- cubator and are expected to hatch later this month or early next month. Shirley Love, who was elected as the groups' treasurer earlier in the meeting, said there are now 21 paid-up members. Club memberships are $25 per year per person or $32 for a family. Two films were shown to conclude the meeting, including one that was shown last year at Ontario Place in Toronto. Bill Love, the club's new Range Officer, told the News that the association has a long history, though it was only reactivated about five years ago. Sports News This has been a busy week as far as sports are concerned in the Terrace Bay-Schreiber area, with a number of teams taking part in area tournaments and doing fairly well, too. A minute of silence was observed in memory of Mr. Wesly Miller and Mr. Arthur. Lemieux by members of the club. The minutes were then read by Mrs. Eva Gordon, secretarys==-and. the treasurer's report was read by Mr. Pat Guina. Mr. Jack Handel will at- tend a meeting of the Recreation Committee as our representative regar- ding the Winter Carnival. Card secretary Mrs. Etta Grey gave a lengthy report of cards sent out to the bereaved and sick and many thank you cards have Slawson were selected as Directors while McKeever, Tait, and Bill Love remain- ed in the Nominating Com- mittee.
