On the evening prior, keynote speaker, Mrs. Barbara Elliot spoke to about 65 moms that were present. She talked on the value of play groups and the impor- tance of socializing with children and their moms. There were several displays by organizations such as: Early Childhood Education Association, Sweet Thursday Book Store, Northern Women's Book Store, Mother Goose, Child Birth Association and World Wide Books. On Saturday approx- imately 100 moms from along the North Shore and Highway 11 participated in a variety of, work shops. > Such as: Child Develop- ment and Guidance, Arts and Crafts, Music, Kindergym, Child Abuse, Program Planning, Drama and First Aid. The application deadline is January 1, 1986, and results will be available by mid-March. The professional and publications experience of the applicant will also be taken into account as well as potential impact of the Proposed project on the topic area. Payment of the award will be in two equal in- stalments of up to $5,000 each. The first instalment will be given at the start of the project, which can take up to two years. The se- cond instalments will be given when the project is finished and assessed as be- ing of publishable quality.
