I have a college background in business and marketing and have suc- cessfully managed my own business in the Terrace Bay area. To date my involve- ment in town has included being a founding member of Project Mayday, as well as being on the executives of Terrace Bay Minor Hockey for three years and the Ladies Golf Club. As a Councillor for Ter- race Bay, I would like to see sufficient funds placed in reserve to implement a sound financial plan. This cannot be done with plan- ning over several years. An aerial fire truck must be purchased as soon as possi- ble for the safety of our citizens. The streets in the older section of town need» to be upgraded and repav- ed. Although, past councils have tried to have the se- cond access road to the new subdivision without success.we must continue to re-opened lobby the government to allow a second access road to be used. Some other areas of con- cern are: affordable hous- ing for Senior Citizens, easier access to public buildings by the handicap- ped, improved street lighting and the need for the local E.M.O. plan to be publicized. I hope you are all in the pink in spite of some nasty weather which of course we must expect this time of year, so dress warm. Last Wednes- day afternoon we had a very. nice group of ladies who answered our call for bridge players, we are most grateful to you as our residents always look for- ward to their Wednesday afternoon Bridge it helps pass a long afternoon. You know when a person reaches the "Golden Years" of life it's so en- couraging and gratifying to know that even if we are in a Senior Citizen Home people do not forget us. Remember we can still be of use to others with some of our know how and ex- perience we can still *'Lend a Hand' with a problem. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Barker from Toronto who come to take up residence with us, also Mr. William Deparry from Nipigon, we hope they en- joy their stay at Birchwood. Believe it or not but every once in a while we hear talk of Christmas, I don't know if it's the new Sears Catalogue or the child in us but at any rate it's kind of fun.
