Pope spoke to a gather- ing of the riding executive and some other party members at a_ breakfast meeting at the Schreiber Voyageur Restaurant. Pope and his wife Linda made the stop in Schreiber dur- ing their current cross- province swing which has had them visit 82 ridings in 4 weeks. Pope is from Timmins but he does not *'assume"' that he has the Northern support on the basis of his home riding. He feels that the upcoming leadership race is going to be a solid three-way fight and he is going to have to work very hard to gain and maintain the support of the various delegates. Pope is very hopeful concerning | Progressive Conservative chances in the Lake Nipigon Riding in future elections. He also feels that in the future that the party will have to install a system whereby the local regions and -ridings will have more input and representation. The leadership conven- tion takes place on November 15 and 16 in Toronto.
