He has been in our midst since October 26, 1981 coming from North Bay, Ontario. Nick has en- joyed his stay in Terrace Bay and he and his fami- ly have made many close friends here. He says and I quote "The local fish population will be over- joyed that I am leaving."' He has mixed feelings on departing and wishes to say so long to everyone. The new manager is Mr. Bryon Cassie from Timmins Ontario. He is married and has three young daughters. Bryon says he is looking for- Old meets new -- ward to meeting the peo- ple of Terrace Bay. He hopes he'll become as proficient a fisherman as his predecessor - Nick. Bryon says the door to the C.I,B.C. is always open and to come on in and meet him. Concert series returns Residents of Terrace Bay/Schreiber will again be enjoying the popular Concert Series. This years series of four concerts will include piano; flute and string ensembles as well as a remarkable percussion group known as the '*Percussionistics". Their musical programs will 'include works of a light classical nature as well as jazz, ragtime and calypso. The concert series will provide pleasant evenings of fine music for the whole family. Devonian Duo launches concert series When Alberta's Susan' Hoeppner and Robert Kortgaard made their New York debut at Town Hall, the New York Times critic praised their "cool confidence", "refreshing extrover- sion" and "joyous aban- don." Audiences praise their fresh and exciting approach to programm- ing which spans the music from\Bach to the Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano by the popular French composer, Claude Boll- ing. Susan Hoeppner began her musical train- ing in Alberta where she has appeared as soloist with the Calgary Youth Orchestra and as a featured artist on Calgary's "Musical Por- traits." Since winning the Grand Prize of the 1983 Canadian Music Com- petition, Miss Hoeppner has performed recitals in North America, Argen- tina and Portugal, as well as concerto appearances in Toronto, Calgary, The Maritimes, Lisbon and Buenos Aires. She has also performed as guest soloist with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. Pianist, Robert Kor- tgaard holds a Master's degree from the Julliard School of Music, where he was a student of Anita Doromann and the late Mr. Irwin Freundich.
