Baseball News: Men's Slow Pitch - The quarter- final 2 out of 3 elimination round has been completed in the playoffs. The Tigers eliminated the Commandoes, the Ban- dits defeated the Truckers and the Goodtimers knock- ed out the Rebels all in 2 straight games. The last series saw the Stingers edge'out the Royals in three exciting well-played games. The Stingers now meet the Tigers and the Bandits and Goodtimers square off for 2 out of 3 semi-final action. A total of 128 golfers from the area competed under ideal conditions. Paul Dashkewytch, of Ter- race Bay, retained his three year hold on the champion- ship. He withstood a strong challenge on Sunday by Ken Hanley, to retain his title. Hanley started the day 5 shots behind but turned in a solid 71 on Sunday to go with his 77 on Saturday. Dashkewytch, though, continued his steady play with a 73 on Sunday to go with a 72 on Saturday. Dwayne Hay of Georgetown, Ontario and Scott Clements of Terrace Bay both were within strik- ing distance on Saturday with scores of 76 and 77 respectively, but both ran into some trouble on Sun- day. Hay finished in a tie for third with Thunder Bay's Rollie Turrie at 153 and Clements slipped to sixth place, one shot behind Sandy Middleton of Thunder Bay, at 155.
