There was the league championship in Marathon (NSSA) with eight players from Terrace Bay-Schreiber attending. Tim Wilson-and Curtis Evoy, senior doubles, Brenda Speziale and Jackie Speziale, senior doubles, Henry Kaari junior singles, Susan Strasburger junior singles and Mike Molinski and Lori Speziale junior mixed, with Jim Corrigan and Larry Fraser providing coaching and encouragement. The championship games were held at Seneca College in Toronto With the very best of high school players taking part. Larry Fraser accompanied the boys to the competition and was impressed with the smooth running of the championship playoffs. Curtis and Tim did very well, winning their first match, losing the second match to the eventual win- ners (Upper Canada Col- lege) and losing their third match, which went into three games, proving to be a very close game. With this experience behind them and with the en- couragement of Larry Fraser and Jim Corrigan the boys, if they so chose could prove to be the senior boys badminton doubles team to beat. Jim Corrigan, one time Ontario Badminton Player of the Month (Nov./Dec. 1984) has been keeping very busy, not only with coaching other players but participating in many tour- naments himself. He has been travelling from Kingston to Kapuskasing and points in between, as well as organizing the An- nual North Shore Badmin- ton Championship here in Terrace Bay, May 11th and "12th.
