Susan Johnson-Hewson is well known in the area for her oustanding photography of nature themes. Linda Trapp, although unknown to many, has spent the last few years since graduating from a weaving course, practicing and working diligently in this craft. She now feels confident in pro- gressing to a more personal genre of weaving, especial- ly tapestries and free form. Coming from a background of artistic creativity, Linda has Linda Trapp at work at her pieced poh Beat the winter doldrums always had a desire to find her own personal medium. Faced with the realities of employment for women in this area, Linda decided to utilize her artistic bent as a way of furthering her education. 'A year at Humber College in cinematography did not give her the hands-on ex- perience she desired. As she tells it, one morning she woke up and said, "I want to be a weaver."' Though she had never seen a loom in her life she con- tacted the Canada Craft Council to find a suitable place to take this type of course. She spent two years at Georgian College in Barrie studying weaving and textiles. Concentrating on weaving she also studied spinning, silk screening and stained glass techniques.
