Canada - Taiwan exchange The Cana?r Taiwan Friendship Association (CFTA) in co-operation with the Canadian Society of Taiwan is planning a stu- dent exchange program for this summer. We are look- ing for up to ten senior high school students from across Northwestern Ontario to go to Taiwan for a similar period. The Canadian students will be placed with a Chinese family under the Voyageur tales .... by JANET CHAPPEL Well, it's been a while but I think my brain is finally functioning again. With exams and the new semester, I have not had much time to do anything. The results of the basket- ball game reported last week was the Senior Boy's defeating Nip-Rock, 54-51. The Voyageurs overcame a nine point deficit at half time to win. Jim Pampoukas led the team with 21 points. On Saturday, February 11th, the Senior and Junior Volleyball teams went to Marathon for an invita- tional tournament. The Juniors defeated Wawa, Marathon, Manitouwadge and Nip-Rock. Congratula- tions for their well played games. The Seniors were only able to win two games that Saturday. Apparently the losses have something to do with Griezelda eating too many Greenies ...? A good time was had by all! Police Report Police investigated one case of wilful damage, a window being broken by a youth with a B.B. gun. Gun has been seized, no charges laid. One disturbed person was escorted by Police to Thunder Bay Psychiatric Hospital. Police attended two fire -- calls. Two separate incidents of Assault were in- vestigated with no charges being laid. ~ Schreiber. There was a graduation Committee meeting on February 12th. Commit- tees for decorations, din- ner, entertainment, gowns and pictures were set up. Ideas were also suggested for fundraising to minimize the cost of graduation. One such fundraiser was a Mr. Irresistable contest whith was held on Valentines Day: The girls bought hearts and were not allow- ed to talk to any guys. Ifa girl talked to a guy, that guy took her heart. Mr. Ir- - resistable for 1985 turned out to be Dom Filane from Congratula- tions! Crowning wil take place during our Winter Carnival week which runs from February 25 to March Ist. The students travelling to Spain during the March break are now finalizing plans. Constable attended call regarding fighting among several youths. One person was assisted under the Welfare Act. One motorist was charg- ed with Speeding under the Highway Traffic Act. One male subject was charged with Impaired Driving and Driving Over -08 under the Criminal Code. One male subject was : charged with Possession of a Narcotic under the Nar- cotic Control Act. Found property was turned in consisting of one trouble light and cord. Owner can claim by iden- tifying same. One theft over $200 was investigated. Several tickets were laid for parking violations. One driving complaint received and investigated.
