Hello everyone!!! I sure' hope you are all over the Holidays. I suppose all of us who are forever on a diet will try and lose those unwanted pounds that found us over Christmas, but everything looked so good it was hard to pass them up. Oh, well now we can go back to "Rabbit" food. I have been asked on behalf of the staff and residents to thank the townspeople who dropped in to visit and left gifts under our tree. It was very O.P.P. They were guests of my daughter and son-in-law (Lou & Syl Du- quette), a real nice gift for this little Ole lady. We at Birchwood have a Me ES criminals off the road as possible.' In June 1983, the day-to- day provincial police cam- paign against drinking drivers was changed drastically with the incep- tion of a pilot program of spot checks in the London OPP district. The London OPP in- creased their enforcement of the drinking and driving laws, and the positive results were given a lot of publicity. The pilot project was extended province- wide in January 1984. Over the past two years, the OPP has joined other interested groups in trying to change the attitude of 'people to the drinking driver. The OPP's slogan '*Prove You Care"' tries to put concern where it should be, and that is with every member of the public. Commissioner Ferguson said police will be stopping drivers frequently over the holidays, and he asked for support from the public by im. dodick R.O. optometrist 1119 Victoria Ave THUNDER BAY Phone 622-7726 accepting this procedure as being in the interests of everyone using Ontario highways. We had the pleasure of having a very lovely luncheon with the members of the Ladies Auxiliary and Ladies who came from Schreiber for a visit from Santa Claus who left each of us a good siz- ed Christmas stocking fill- ed with gifts. It was wonderful. We sure were not forgotten. Thank you one and all and may God Bless. And now, I hate to put a "Bite" in after the wonderful holidays but I feel I must so here goes. Is it really necessary to ride your snow machines right through the back yard of Birchwood and so close to the hospital. It's bad enough to have to listen to that noise early in the even- ing but when you start around 10:30 p.m. and some nights it's midnight, < and after, and that noise is still going on. I was told there is a By-Law in regards to driving a skidoo. If so why is it not enforc- ed? Just stop and think, "'How would you like to try and sleep with. that noise". Thank you - until next time remember this: There are two kinds of Good "No Good and Good for Nothing."'
