I hope you have all been good so Santa will come and put something nice under your tree. No doubt by now you are all ready for the big Day -- sure you are. Well our "Home"' is now all ready and it looks beautiful, the final touch - the tree was put up and we offer our grateful heartfelt thanks to Kimberly Clark for the beautiful tree. It was very thoughtful and kind of them and will help make our Holidays Hap- py. I know a lot of you are not very anxious for snow but I for one would like to see a bit more snow for Christmas. Af- ter all Northwestern On- tario would sure look funny if we had no snow for Christmas. I have been asked by the Staff and Residents to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Bright and Happy New Year. And please drive carefully, remember Alcohol and Gas do not mix so if you want to drink please make sure FIRST, HE KILLED THE BOTTLE... someone sober can take you home, after all we want you all around for a long time. "Joyeaux Noel - Bonne et Heureuse Annee." On Dec. 8th and 9th, 1984, the Schreiber "Travel Rest" Pee-Wee hockey team travelled to 'and participated in the Nipigon Invitational Pee-Wee tournament. Teams entered were. from Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Nipigon, Geraldton, Atikokan, Current River, Elks and Knights of Columbus from Thunder Bay. Schreiber went. through the tournament unde- Old timers show skills MIKE MOORE Between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. hockey fans gathered at the Terrace Bay Arena, (Fri- day Dec. 7th) to witness some of their favorite ' Montreal Canadiens of Years Past, display their skills against Terrace Bay's Quinard Old- timers. Names such as Henri Richard, Gilles Marotte, Ab MacDon- ald, and Gerry Des- jardins thrilled the crowd with some en- tertaining hockey. The Ex-pros may have slowed a step or two but their talent was undeni- able, as they showed crisp passing, strong positional play, and sharp shooting; on their way to a 14-4 victory. The home team dis- played strong skating, and good checking but were unable to com- plete plans to beat Des- jardins. The antics of Gilles Marotte and ref- erees "Red" Storey and Maurice "The Rocket" Richards kept the mood light and delighted the crowd. Following the game, both teams and a large number of fans gathered at the High School for autographs and danc- ing. The Montreal Team signed everything from stickers and photos to "Canadiens" Hockey Sweaters. The Quinard Oldtimers will also make themselves available to all "Autographs Hounds" upon request. like to thank all the fans that went to the game or the dance. A -special thank you to Henri Rich- ard, Gilles Marotte, Bob Sirois, Ab MacDonald, Gerry Desjardins, Leon Rocheforte, Roy -- Comeau, Chris Borde- leau, Andre Pronovost, and thé rest of the 'Habs'. Thanks for the exper- ience, maybe we'll meet = again! feated in four games and won the championship. In game #1, Schreiber came back from a 3 to 1 deficit to double Ati- kokan 6-3. David Fig- liomeni led Schreiber with 3 goals, Mike Spe- ziale had 2 and Derek Martin 1. Sean Duggan chipped in two assists. Mike Speziale was the game M.V.P. for Schrei- ber. Game #2 saw Schrei- ber defeat the Knights of Columbus by a score of 8-3. David Figliomeni once again scored 3 goals with Mike Spezi- ale and Joey Figliomeni scoring 2 each. Buzzy Luke had 1 goal. David Figliomeni was the M.V.P. in this game. Game #3 for Schrei- ber was against a tough Elks team from Thunder Bay. Mike Speziale scored with a minute to go in the game and 'Schreiber skated away with a 4-2 win. Buzzy Luke had a single goal and the game M.V.P. Derek Martin scored 2. Wees win The championship game involved Schreiber and the home team Nip- igon Elks. The game was a typical champion- ship game with close checking and exciting play. Schreiber with a goal by Joey Figliomeni opened the scoring in the first period with Steve Czigli replying for Nipigon. The period ended with the score tied 1-1. In the second period, Nipigon took a 2-1 lead with Richard Gauvin scoring. Before the period ended, Schreiber potted 2 goals by David Figliomeni to go into the third period leading 3-2. With two minutes to go in the game, David Figliomeni scored his third goal and Schreiber skated to a 4-2' win and the champion- ship. (Buzzy Luke was the game M.V.P.). The players were presented with the championship trophy with individual trophies for each player. Congratulations to all the Schreiber players for. van excellent effort in this tournament.
