Guue: Jog Hogs This week in the home ec room, some of us headed into the kitchen and the rest stayed back to catch up on our book- work. The people in the kitchen made oatbars and cheesé and tomato macaroni. The oatbars were very dry because someone added way too much baking soda. The cheese and tomato mac- aroni was delicious. Right the next night I made it for supper. At the meeting we caught up since we missed so much: After we caught up we plan- ned our skits for achievement night. We also thought up the foods and games we were going to play for our meeting we are hav- ing with the Jog Hogs. (ll have the. report made for you _ next week.) We all had a fun and exciting night. Fitness rreaks On Monday, Novem- ber 5 the Jog-Hogs had a fitness meet and in- vited the Fitness Freaks. We 'started by having races. We did stuff like cafry an egg on a spoon, rolling eggs with our noses and other fun events. After this, we had pita bread and filled them with cheese, tom- atoes, pickles and other delicious foods. We had a very fun night with the Fitness © Freaks and we would be glad to get together again. _ Auxiliary to The McCausland Hospital The next regular meeting of the Auxi- liary to the McCaus- land Hospital will be Monday, November 18 in the high school in Schreiber at 8 p.m. A change in the by- laws regarding the lo- cation of monthly meet- ings has been proposed and all interested part- ies are urged to attend. The present by-law reads that monthly meetings are to be held alternately in Terrace Bay and Schreiber. Un- der the proposed change all meetings would be held in Terrace Bay. A lack of attendance by, members from Schrei- ber has occasioned the proposed change. The winner of the 25 silver dollars at the Aux- iliary Bingo was Donna Lalonde and the door prize, a gift certificate from Moore's of Ter- race Bay was Georgina King. The Auxiliary ap- preciates the support shown during our an- nual membership drive. Piles endorses annexation Jim Files, the recent- ly elected Lake Nipigon P.C. 'candidate in the forth-coming _Provin- cial election, was -very pleased with the On- tario government's de- cision to expand the boundaries of the Lake Superior Board of Ed- ucation. The extension will mean that the L.S.B.E. will be able to tax the profitable Hemlo gold area. The tax rev- enue generated from this area should help offset growing educa- tional costs due in part to the increased popu- lation related to the Hemlo development. In addition to the efforts of the Reeves and Board of Education, Mr. Files had been pressing for this government action since his September nomination. He has had discussions with various government ministries, particularly the Min- istry of Northern Affairs and the Honourable Leo Bernier. Of equal importance is additional govern- ment funding to the Hemlo-related North- Shore communities so that they can provide the necessary social and other services for their growing populations. Mr. Files has been examining a number of problems in the Lake Nipigon riding. He is presently investigating the high water and sew- age costs faced by the residents of Nakina. These actions by Mr. Files, although he has not yet been given a mandate by the resi- dents of the Lake Nip- igon riding, are an in- dication of his concern as a citizen of North- western Ontario.
