Pause Nov. 11th by HELENE BALLARD It's that time again so I'll settle down and see what I come up with this week. I hope you all had fun on Halloween. We here at Birchwood had a good time. We enjoy seeing the little ones in their costumes, and the chil- dren both big and small were very well behaved. All said a nice "Thank you" for their treats. It is so refreshing to meet these well behaved children. We said 'Bon Vo- yage" to Marge and Scotty Hamilton this past week as they left for their winter stay in warmer climes. Have a nice winter and we will be looking for your re- turn like the birds in the spring. Our Octoberfest was a ~ real fun evening here at Birchwood. The Ladies Auxiliary did a great job that night. Mr. Richard Donylyk's contribution 'to the evening was his accordion music. It did much to put us all in the right mood for this spe- cial event. We hope to have the pleasure of hearing him again. On a more serious note, let us all take the time November 11th to pause and remember our loved ones who gave their lives for our coun- try and say a silent prayer for them. I see some of our College students home because of the teachers' strike. It's too bad this has to happen and it sure hurts our children. Let's hope this will soon be settled so these young people can get on with their education. My Bite this week is really a repeat of an article which has been in the paper before but I - have received so many requests to again men- tion it in this column that I finally agreed. It seems there is trouble with bicycles darting back and forth on the sidewalk near the stores.
