Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, August 22, 1984, page 5 Community News Bits and Bites Numero Duo by HELENE BALLARD Hello everybody! So far, due to my attempt at writing for the paper, I have not been told to hop a freight out of town so here is numero due. On Wednesday of last week some of the resi- dents of Birchwood Ter- race enjoyed a lovely day at Neys Park as the guests of the Chimo Club of Schreiber. We went by charter bus and had a great time enjoy- ing each other's com- pany and gave our voices a bit of exercise, singing many old songs. Our bus driver, Bonnie, did not seem to mind her bus load of noisy "'kids.'"' Our thanks to all the Chimo Club members for a nice pic- nic. Now some "food for thought'. The other day some visitors to. our town stopped me to ask if I' could please show them where our "Taco Bell' store was. I was sorry to have to tell them we had none. For those of. you who may not know what "Taco Bell" is, it is a fast food out- let who specialize in not oblige. If you like to write notes to yourself, don't forget our Fall Fair. The Hospital Auxiliary will welcome your donations for our different: tables so if you are contacted by phone for a donation please be generous. Also, you ladies with houseplants and a green thumb get busy with your slips (not the kind you wear) and start a few new plants for us. We would also like to see items coming into Birchwood for our White Elephant Sale so send us your "Treasures" (no husbands please). By the time this goes to press, Ralph Regis should be home from the hospital. I am sure we all wish him well. Welcome to Doug, Linda and Olin Penna and Dr. Chris, Leslie and Erin Bailey, new residents of Terrace Bay. By the way girls, don't forget this is Leap Year so all you "un- claimed treasures" get busy. Remember, a ring on the finger is worth two on the phone. our town to please print something about street lights. Why does it take so long to replace burnt out bulbs? I know one does not notice this in the day time so maybe if our "Men in Blue" on their nightly patrol around town could make a note of these burnt out and malfunctioning bulbs and report these to whoever is in charge of replacing them maybe it would "shed a little light on the trouble.' It's worth a try. See you next week. If anyone has any item of interest to our town, please call me and I will work them into the column. Phone 825- 3690. Fishermen Beware -- Fishing is prohibited in the fenced area at the Aguasabon Generating Station west of Terrace Bay. The tailrace where the water exits the power station and the cement platform are off limits. For your own safety do not fish there. Hospital Auxiliary preparing The Auxiliary to The McCausland Hospital is busy preparing for a new season. First on the calendar is the Fall Fair.
