The Lakehead Univer- sity wild rice research unit has announced it will provide a free advi- sory service to improve rice management tech- niques in Northern On- tario. This service is part of the five year research program funded by the Ontario Ministry of Northern Affairs. Northern Affairs Min- ister Leo Bernier says he hopes the service will help Northern growers boost wild rice product- ion. "I think there is great potential for wild rice as a cash crop in Northern Ontario."'
