The regular meeting of Schreiber Council was held June 12th and was called to order by acting Reeve E. Borutski. Business Arising .- The Clerk was in- structed to write to the owners of Villa Bianca once again, pointing out the fact that their sani- tary sewer system is still allowing ground water to infiltrate into the sani- tary system. The owners are to be advised that they must bring the plumbing up to stand- ard, or face the conse- quences. The Assessment De- partment was requested to inspect the D. May residence as to possible construction of a_base- ment apartment, con- trary to the zoning by- law and without a build- ing permit. Committee Reports Property: The com- 'mittee was approached by G. Fischer as to the selling price of Lot 6, Ontario St. The price of $55,000 asked, in- cludes the dwelling and lot. Lot 7 is not for sale. The Clerk was in- structed to have the Township Solicitor search the legal descrip- tion and title for the lot held by M. Smolcec on Subway St. The Committee re- ported. that R.B. Spa- doni is willing to sell the vacant land south of the Body Shop, however a condition of the sale would be that the Town- ship purchase the body shop building and lot at a later date. Purchase price of the now vacant land is $22,500; the body shop would be up for sale at a cost of $62,000 when new facilities are constructed by Spadoni Brothers. The Com- mittee is to pursue the matter further, with the view in mind of clarify- ing the amount of land available. Roads: A request was made by C. Pellegrino for some consideration "on the possible costs in- curred to him if he lowers his driveway. It is his claim that the Town- ship lowered the road by three feet, thereby cre- ating difficulty to enter his driveway. The town- ship on the other hand only lowered the road by 12 inches. The Clerk was instructed to reply to Mr. Pellegrino stating that the Township Coun- cil assumes no responsi- bility for any costs in- curred as a result of lowering his driveway if he chooses to do so. The M.T.C. have once again confirmed that subsidy monies for the paving of various Town- ship streets is a high priority insofar as they are concerned, but that present budget res- trictions do not permit the granting of subsidy funding. Water and Sewer: Good progress is being made at the water treat- ment plant and it is expected that the facility will go on line in the first part of July. Approval has been granted to update the existing chlorine plant to comply with current safety regulations. Lo- cal contractors will be asked to bid the job along with the contract- or doing the water treat- ment plan. Building Committee Building permits to the value of $352,767 (27 permits) have been issued as of May 31, 1984. This does not in- clude any new house construction starts. Finance Committee: The Budget having Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, June 27, 1984, page 7 Schreiber Council Report been completed and the school requisition re- ceived, By-Law 777, the 1984 Mill Rate By-law was presented to Coun- cil for their approval.
