Terrace Bay Minor Hockey report Tournament News: The Pee Wees participated in the recent "Orange Crush Tournament" in Thunder Bay on January 6 and 7. Having lost the first to a team from Duluth the boys bounced back to win their next two over teams from Thunder Bay. They then found themselves against the same Duluth team in the championship semi- finals, losing again but by a narrower score. Congratulations to the Pee Wee players :for a fine effort. The Bantams and Pee Wees_ travelled to Schreiber and Marathon respectively this weekend for invitational tourna- ments. Results next week. North-Shore Action: 1, Bantams at Terrace Bay, January 7th and 8th. Lost to Marathon and Manitouwadge. Tied Schreiber. "ee Midgets at Schreiber, January 7th and 8th. Lost to Manitouwadge and Marathon. Defeated Schreiber. 3. The Midgets hosted the North Shore this past weekend. Results next week. Coming Hockey Events: 1. This weekend the Terrace Bay Midgets will- be hosting their second annual Midget Invitational Tourna- ment. Teams are entered from Red Rock, Hornepayne, Thunder Bay, and Schreiber. Local hockey fans are encouraged to come to t Terrace Bay Arena ard witness some fine hockey action in 'the six team tournament. Games begin Saturday at 12 noon and continue Sunday morning and afternoon. 2. The Annual Recreation Director's Pee Wee Jamboree will be held in Terrace Bay on February 24-26. This 'fun'? tournament, to be run in conjunction with the TBMHA, will involve players from most of the North Shore communities from Geraldton to White River. Games are - based on Participation, sports- manship, skill development and not on competition. Teams are made up from players from the various communities being mixed together. Close to 175 players are expected. Past Jamboree's have proven to be a great success. A _ special highlight this year will be the participation of a team from Arnprior, Ontario, who will be twinned with our Pee Wees for the week prior to and including the Jamboree. In late April The Terrace Bay Pee Wees will travel to Arnprior to complete the twinning and participate in a Jamboree in that area. Other Hockey News: Thanks is extended to the people of Terrace Bay who contributed to the bottle drive last Wednesday. A_ special thanks to the drivers and those players from the Midget, Bantam, Atom divisions and the two or three Pee Wees who braved the cold to carry out the collection. The Midgets received an extra Christmas present when they learned in mid- December that they had been selected as one of 500 teams out of a total 2000 teams from across Canada to be awarded a set of team uniforms donated by the Commodore Computer Company. The Midgets are hoping for an early arrival of the uniforms so that they can retire their aging six-year-old set. Our last item this week concerns the meetings held by the TBMHA executive. Contrary to rumours, the meetings and the executive are both quite "open" to the public. The executive was elected last spring to represent all players, parents, and officials associated with minor hockey in Terrace Bay. If any person has a question or concern regarding the operation of minor hockey, he/she need only speak directly to any executive member or bring the matter to the monthly meeting. If /there are any further questions, contact the President Doug Roberts at 825- 3644. Schreiber scribbles continued from page 7 mas Holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Quinton have re- turned home from Florida. Farewell to the Delaney Family, Rev- erend Tim, Margie, Michael and J.J. who have left Schreiber for Sault Ste. Marie. We will miss you. Scented pine cones Create a bountiful basket of scented pine cones. They're so easy to do and make great gifts too. Paint edges of pine cones with white -_glue and sprinkle with McCormick cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, or cloves. Tap off excess spice and place pine cones in a basket. Trim with greens or ribbon. Add spice pine cones to gift packages for fra- grant wrappings.
