Collier replaced the former accountant Bruce _ Rousseau who currently held the position pre- vious to his coming. Garry hails from the Ottawa area, where he lived and worked for the past 18 years. His last position was held with the Carleton Roman Catholic School Board. When asked what brought him this far north, Garry replied that - it was mainly the job opportunity, where he could gain experience working with a variety of schools in different areas in the north and also because of the friendliness of the peo- ple and the beauty of the good old North Shore. When asked what he thought about the two towns, he stated that he thought Terrace Bay was indeed a beauty spot along the North Shore and is pleasingly well-laid out. Living in Schreiber however, has brought him closer to the residents there, and he says that he finds them to be extremely friendly and open. Welcome Garry and Good Luck on the new job! Lysnes Sterling Lysnes - Chairman of the Municipal Advisory Committee. Northern Affairs Min- ister Leo Bernier ap- proved the appointment of Sterling Lysnes as Chairman of the Muni- cipal Advisory Commit- Education. Lysnes, who is serving the post following the death of former Chairman Marg- aret Sideen in August. "The Municipal Advi- sory Committee is fort- unate to have a dedica- ted worker like Sterling Lysnes to take over the reins after the loss of Margaret Sideen", said Bernier. "I look forward to working with Sterling on regional issues over the months ahead."' Lysnes is the former Vice Chairman of MAC - an advisory body of ele- cted municipal officials which makes recom- mendations for Ontario government policies and programmes through the Minister of North- ern Affairs. Lysnes has been a member of MAC for five years and. was elected with the late Mrs. Si- deen in May to lead the _organization for the next three years. He is the proprietor of Sterling Machine Works in the Westfort Ward of Thun- der Bay where he lives with his wife Irene. He is the father of two children and _ recently became a grandfather. Lysnes says economic development in North- western communities will be his priority, but he emphasizes that the committee will also be conveying municipal concerns about health, social services, recrea- tion and other matters affecting northerners to the Minister of Northern Affairs. Gordon Meyers, the Reeve of Emo, will join Lysnes on the MAC Executive as Vice Chairman. He was elec- ted unanimously in the organization's Septem- ber meeting.
