Tips for the Handyman Most people like the satisfaction that comes ° with a job well done, and you can do a lot of those jobs around the house and yard a lot more easily if you take time ahead to organize and plan your work. The same is true for hobby enthusiasts. The first step is or- ganization. Again, the old reliable peg- board is invaluable. It will permit you to hang tools and appliances where you can most con- veniently find them and use them. A lightweight vise is also very handy for holding items in place while you are working on them. If holding items is a problem, try wrapping the handles with cloth tape for a soft, secure grip. You can also dip the handles of your tools into a plastic coating liquid that is available from most hardware stores. When putting in nails or screws, try drilling a small hole first. They will go in much easier Rossport board notes.... continued from page 2 secretary will be ap- proached to submit the complete proposal to Northern Affairs, in or- der to apply for a build- ing grant through the Unorganized Communi- ties Assistance Pro- gramme. Alex Krystia made mention that the L.S.B. fiscal year ran from October 1st of the cur- rent given year to Sep- tember 30th of the next given year. In light of this fact, it will be asked of each association (wa- ter, fire, recreation) to conform to this fiscal period for a more effi- cient operation. The Chartered Accountant firm of "Plata and Mor- rel", by recommenda- tion of Alex Krystia, will be asked to audit the L.S.B. books. The proposed budget for the second fiscal year of the L.S.B. was ac- cepted on a motion by Lester Legault, after dis- cussion. The budget is to be submitted to Cal McDonald of Northern Affairs in Kenora for approval. You can also dip nails and screws into glue before you put them in for additional firm- ness, but don't expect them to come out that easily! Many lightweight drills are available have bit holders which will accept different types of screws which eliminates the need to stress your wrist. If pur- chasing a new drill, try to find one that has both forward and reverse so that you can use it to remove screws as well. Usé "'vise grip"' pliers instead of regular ones. These units will clamp on to the object you're working on and will eliminate strain on the hands and fingers. They can also be used as a small, portable vise for smaller objects.
