Roller Skating Starts Again Monday August 8th Starting - next Monday, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. we will have another session of roller skating for your enjoyment. Please see separate ad elsewhere in this paper, for full schedule rates, etc. 2nd Annual Fall Fair The Fall Fair is just 5 weeks away - have you reserved and paid for your table or space? The deadline to pay for your table space is Friday Sept. 2nd. Let's make this year's fair bigger and better! This year the top 3 best decorated booths will be awarded a placque. Canning and Preserving Workshop A free course on canning and preserving jams, jellies and pickles, will be held on Wednesday August 17th from 6:30 - 10:30 p.m., in the Home Economics Room of the High School. Barbara Weese from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food will be instructing this program. Please call the Recreation Office if you wish to attend. Swim Pool News Water Polo Jamboree - Rescheduled Please note that this Jamboree, scheduled for Saturday August 6th, has been rescheduled. It will be held within the next 2 weeks and you will be notified as soon as we have the exact date. August Swim Lessons This month's swim session is underway, as of Tuesday August 2nd. Please check the list at the pool if you do not know what time your child is scheduled for. Martin and Down Tented Circus The Circus will be in town on Tuesday August 30th. 'Paper Tole Workshop Tentative Date: Saturday, October 15 Paper Tole is an old art dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries in Europe. It is a three-dimensional picture created by cutting three or more identical prints and layering them together using silicone. The student will be cutting each print in a different manner, and sculpting and layering them to produce a dimensional effect. We also took the children bowling and found it to be a lot of fun for all. We made many crafts such as pin cushions, paper bag puppets, egg carton flowers, and styrofoam birds. Next week on Thursday August 4th and Friday August 5th, Tot Lot for the younger group will be cancelled due to our overnight camping trip to Rainbow Falls with the older group. Any child from the age of 7 to 12 who is interested in going to Rainbow Falls can drop into the Arena any afternoon to pick up @ consent form from the Tot Lot Leaders. Please return them as soon as possible. Fixins Grease loaf pans and line with heavy greased brown paper, wash and dry raisins. Chop cherries and almonds. Drain crushed pineapple and save juice. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, beat well. Dredge fruit in part of flour. Mix remaining flour and _ baking powder. Add to egg mixture. Mix in pineapple juice and vanilla. =i Lastly, add fruit and mix well. Turn batter into loaf pans and bake. Place pan with water on low rack in oven for half the baking time. Cakes are done if firm when pressed with finger. Cool cakes on:rack. Wrap in aluminum foil and store in _ airtight container. Household Hints If you have lace doilies, which are dingy looking, boil them in equal parts of water and milk and add a little gentle laundry soap.
