Schreiber Recreation News Caramat Community Theatre The Schreiber Parks and Recreation Committee will be presenting the Caramat Community Theatre Group on Saturday, August 6th, in the Lake Superior High School gym, beginning at 7:00 p.m. This Amateur Theatre Group is comprised of people ages 6 to 40 years, and stages a series of short skits and entertaining songs. The group has played to large audiences throughout the North Shore. Tickets are available only at the Recreation Office. This is a family evening you will not want to miss. See you there! Fall Programmes The time has arrived to begin planning and organizing the 1983 Fall Programme which runs from Sept. Ist to Dec. 31st, 1983. A few programmes that can be offered if. enough interest is shown include: Advanced Paper Tole - Calligraphy' - Microwave Cooking - Relaxation Clinic - Jazz Ballet Dance and Aerobic Dance. Schreiber Summer Fun - Youth Drop In On. sury 2 tn, twelve boys aged 9-13 participated in the recreation centre's first sleep over. Although everyone only got about four hours of sleep, the evening was full of fun as the group went roller skating, played in the games room, ate pizza and watched films. In the morning the sleep over group Rossport Notes by ANNE TODESCO The Pays Plat Indian Band hosted the participants who arrived from Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Heron Bay, Longlac and Thunder Bay for a weekend of Prayer Day exercises. Rev. Father Peter 'Groulx of Schreiber called in during the weekend of prayer sessions. Deacons of the church at Heron Bay and the guest speaker Murray Sayer of the Soo, led in the various prayer sessions and Bible reading. The Ladies Aid of the Mission, fed the over hundred delegates to the Prayer session in the Mission's large community centre. Denis Wawa of Sudbury was a guest speaker as well as Mr. and Mrs. J. Andrews, the representative of the Indian bands of Manitoulin Island. Following the readings and prayers, religious instructions were given and the singing of hymns and Indian songs. Alfred Gerow went home to Saskatchewan a happy man after a successful fishing holiday. His brother Eugene Gerow, insisted on being his guide on the many fishing trips. The largest fish Alfred caught was a ten lb. - 2 oz. lake trout. The day following this event, he took his niece Cathy Gerow along for the trip. Guide Eugene and her father instructed her how to attach the lure and worm to the line. Believe it or not, Cathy equaled her uncle Alfred by hauling in a lake trout exactly the same weight as the one he. caught the day before. Mrs. Kennedy is a social worker with a B.A. and M.S.W. and works for Metro Toronto. Her husband, Steve, is the leader of a noted Orchestra of 'Toronto and Vincent Carrington, B.A., and also. from Toronto. Yuris Zdanovskis was a business visitor to the Lakehead this week. Lorraine Seppala visited her mother Mrs. T.F. Seppals in Thunder Bay over the weekend. Rev. Sisters Claranne McFarling and -Michele Landry of the Sacred Heart Convent, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, were the guests of Mrs. Anne Todesco during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Humby of Thunder Bay are here having the fishermens' residence re-roofed. Mr.- and Mrs. Leo - Parent, son Norman and daughter Norma of Edmonton were visitors with Mrs. Anne Todesco recently. Jason Iddison is visiting his grandfather in Toronto and his mother in Montreal. The team members of the Schreiber Ball Hockey League are busy practising for their upcoming Tournament, which is scheduled to take place on August 13th and 14th. A canoe-camping trip has been planned for August 3rd and 4th, for youths aged 12 to 15. Consent forms can be picked up at the Drop-In Office. Tot Drop In The Tot Drop In has proven to be a very successful programme, as children aged 4 to 8 participate in various activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-4 p.m. This week the Tot programme began with an exciting day of films and Bottle Art. The tots enjoyed painting and glueing different types. of material to bottles of different shapes and sizes. On Thursday, July 28th, the Tots They enjoyed climbing aboard the fire engine and really enjoyed hearing the siren.
