Correspondence Transport Canada sent a letter to the Council denying the Council's request for an extension of the hours worked by the present weather reporting sta- tion. Transport Canada said that it would require a more complete statisti- cal record of the volume of airport traffic and the airport and added "'We are at present awaiting development of new automatic equipment now in the research stage." The letter sug- gested that the new equipment might be put into service at Terrace Bay when it becomes available.
