Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, April 27, 1983, page 7 Schreiber Boxing Club The Schreiber Boxing Club. gained momen- tum with three hard- fought wins in four bouts with Thunder Bay on April 17th at the Thunder Bay Moose Hall. Schreiber's Rick Mor- gan led the way by de- feating Thunder Bay's Carl Krebbs in the mid- dleweight division. Both fighters were bloodied, but Morgan backed up the Thunder Bay fighter with more powerful pun- ches. Morgan scored his second victory in as many outings. In his last fight he defeated Hearst's Joel Gagnon. Mario Vasilu proved extremely tough in his first bout by winning a hard-fought decision over Thunder Bay's Ron Shopawaykeesig. It was by far the most humour- ous and exciting bout with both fighters throwing one another to the canvas. Next, the crowd favourite Dom "'Holly- wood" Filane smashed the larger Jason 'Hit Man" Coulter with left and rights to win an unanimous decision. The Thunder Bay fight- er took the defeat in place of his stable- mate, Trevor "Hurri- cane"' Phillips who is ducking Filane. Filane suffered only one de- feat in a bad decision to Phillips and he wants revenge. Badly. The only loss came to Schreiber's Billy Mac- kenzie, in a see-saw, slug-fest with unbeaten Thunder Bay boxer Clint Harris. Mackenzie im- pressed the Winnipeg and Thunder Bay coach- es with his toughness and guts. After three gruelling bloody rounds Mackenzie had to set- tle for a close, split decision loss. Billy "Raw Meat" Mackenzie won the "'fightingest trophy" in the tournament and has been invited by the Thunder Bay Club to join their team against a visiting Bermuda Box- ing team on May 25 at. the Thunder Bay Gar- dens. The Schreiber Club , now starts training for matches coming up in Hearst and Val Caron.
