Winter Carnival Report The Schreiber Parks and Recreation Depart- ment in conjunction with the Terrace Bay- Schreiber Lions Club, The Schreiber Kinsmen and Kinettes, the Schreiber Youth Group and the Schreiber Minor Hockey Association offered to Schreiber residents one week of fun and activities. Tiny Tournament Hockey teams com- prised of young hockey players ages 6 to 8 participated on Satur- day, March 12 at the Schreiber arena in a unique and memorable hockey event, "The Tiny Tournament". All players were awarded medals, and special individual player awards were presented at the conclusion of each game. Many thanks to Northern Beverage, all volunteers, supporters and especially to Mr. Myles Fournier. Road Hockey Tournament Seven area teams participated in the Winter Carnival Road Hockey Tourney on Sunday, March 20. The tourney has been extended -to Saturday, March 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All fans are welcome. Sunday, March 20 re- sults were as follows: North Stars 3-0 Booze Hounds 3-1 Raiders 2-1 Power Ball 2-2 Youth Group 1-2 Holy Angels 0-2 Funeral Kings 0-2 Easter Schedule A reminder to all area residents that the Schreiber Recreation Complex will be closed Friday, April 1, Sunday, April 3, and Monday, April 4. Also note please, that the Arena ice will be removed by April 5, 1983. Recreation Programs Fit Five The Recration Depart- ment in conjunction with Fitness Ontario has been offering the Fit Five Fitness Program for approximately three months. This self ad- ministered program encompasses recording the amount of time you as an individual spends participating in recre- ational and sport activi- ties. These include any- thing from Aerobic Dance to weight train- ing. All that is required, is for you to pick up a Fit Five Level One pamphlet at the Recre- ation Office and you are on your way. Microwave Cooking Any individual inter- ested in learning how to use your microwave in creating and preparing your favorite dishes should contact the recre- ation office. Additional details will be made as soon as ten people re- gister. hy The Schreiber Parks and Recreation Depart- ment in conjunction with Confederation College will be offering a Calli- graphy Course. This course has something to offer the beginners and more experienced student and _ includes practical working in writing, lettering and illuminating besides designing with varied styles of calligraphy. The student will be introduced to some art history and exciting colour work. Calligraphy kits will be available for purchase at the course. The course takes place April 23, 1983 in the Art and Craft Room of the a Recreation Complex beginning at 10:00 a.m. and concluding at 5:00 p-m. Deadline to regis- ter is April 15. Dog Obedience The Schreiber Parks and Recreation Depart- ment in conjunction with Confederation College will be offering a "Learn to Train Your Dog" Obedience Course. The course takes place Saturday, May 28 at the The Terrace Bay Arena has a new ice re- curfacer. The Zamboni is a brand new recreation complex, under the instruction of Althlea Townes. Figure Drawing Workshop The Schreiber Art Club will be offering a Figure Drawing Work- shop on April 9th and 10th, 1983 in the Art Room of the recreation complex.
