All went well with the various "fly's" and "'flu's", but somehow Mary's name was delet- ed from the letter. Now there are certainly times when our letter writers would prefer that their names be deleted, but this was definitely not one of those times. And we apologize, And beg Mary's indulgence. Our typesetters are the best - just read page after page of often com- plicated copy free from all errors. They contend with poor typing, poorer handwriting, bedeviling name spellings, oppres- sive deadlines and late copy. Why is it that "'gremlins" never change a "the" to an innocuous if puzzling "'tge"? When grem- lins strike, they always go for the jugular! «It's only fair to point out that gremlins don't just exist in typesetting machines - they also inhabit Edi- tor's briefcases, home office copy boxes and the cerebral convolu- tions of reporters' quest- ionning minds. So... sorry Mary! We hope you'll keep the good stories coming. We'll try - hard - to keep our "'gremlins" under hattar® ranten) girl killed in a fridge, unemployment, frozen pets, Diana and Charles' privacy, the Gestapo butcher, etc. Mrs. To- desco read many letters to be answered from Barbara Weise, home economist, Heather Woodbeck and Helen Duffield.
